About Resonance
What is Resonance?
Resonance is a shared space where people connect through music memories.
Submit a song and share the story behind it. Read how the same song marked different moments in other people's lives. Every song means something different to someone.
This isn't about music criticism or recommendations. It's about the personal, human side of why certain songs stick with us.
How It Works
- Search for a song — Type any song title and artist. We'll find it using the Last.fm database.
- Share your memory — Write about what the song means to you. It can be a sentence or a story.
- React to others — Browse memories from other people and react with emojis to show you connect with their story.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it anonymous?
Yes, by default. You can optionally add your name when sharing a memory, but it's completely up to you.
How are songs found?
We search the Last.fm music database, which has millions of tracks. Results are ranked by popularity so the most well-known version appears first.
Can I choose a specific video for my memory?
When adding a memory to an existing song, you can check "Use a different version" to search YouTube for a specific live performance, acoustic version, or any other video that matches your memory.
How are YouTube videos selected?
We automatically find the best official video for each song using a scoring system that prioritizes official music videos from the artist's channel, factoring in view counts and avoiding covers or remixes.
Support Resonance
Resonance is a free, independent project. Running it costs money — we use the YouTube API to find and embed videos for every song, and that has daily usage limits.
If you enjoy Resonance and want to help keep it running (and help us upgrade our API capacity so more people can share memories), consider supporting us:
